a lengthy post

Most of the old magic had gone long ago from where the Little Folk lived. No longer could they know what each other were thinking and saying even when they were far apart. No longer could they make objects move just by wishing they would move. No longer could they make themselves invisible when they were being chased by a giant or an angry animal.

In fact the only magical power that remained with them was that they could understand what animals were saying and speak back to them.

The little folk were very small, only a few inches tall. The giants told each other tales of faeries. Faeries were what the giants called the Little Folk though no giant living now had ever seen a faery.

Being very small the Little Folk were very careful when animals were around.

The Little Folk loved bright colors. They painted the tops of their houses red with raspberry juice or yellow with a paint made out of dew-drops and mustard seeds.

But most of all they loved to wear bright or solid colored clothes. Red, yellow, bron or green clothes.

Margritte was a pretty girl with yellow curly hair. She always wore green dresses. She was as strong as a boy and always had a smile or a grin on her face.

When she was not busy doing something else Margritte would knit. She used pine needles as knitting needles and lambs wool spun into yarn.

MEMORIES

NEW: A BRIEF LIFE ON STAGE
NEW: CAMBRIDGE DAYS
NEW: CHASING MEMORIES
I have written other books, mostly of memories, mainly for my wife, Celia. I have other storis and dramatic adaptions here.

POETRY

I have written poetry since my early 20s. The most productive period was when I was a member of the Catamount Poets in Bennington Vermont. My poetic muse left me in 2020. I hope to find my muse again soon. A few chapbooks contain groups of poems of the same theme written at the same time. Other poems are collected in two volumes of collected poems. The rather long poem 'To Celia' was inspired by Ben Jonson's ' Drink to me only with your eyes.'

THEATRE

I have adapted 'Treasure Island' and 'A Christmas Carol' which have been performed several times by my theatr group 'Bare Stages.' Usually for kids with kids.
